Does the unit use a lot of electricity?
Not at all. The VA-5002 is highly efficient and consumes only 2.6W to a maximum of 10W of power. Normal usage costs around 10¢ per week, including overnight use (Figures based on Ausgrid small appliance calculations - min speed).
How often do I need to clean the filters?
If you choose to use the unit continuously then it is recommended to clean the filters every 3 months. However, if your usage is not as frequent, then every 6 months is advisable. Cleaning is simple and effective so feel free to clean the filters often.
What happens during Night Mode?
By pressing the Night Mode button on your remote, the unit will defer to cycle mode at low speed. Simply press the Night Mode button again to exit this phase.
Where is the best location for the VA-5002?
A great feature of the VA-5002 is that it does not take up a lot of wall space and does not protrude intrusively into the room. This provides more options but there are some things to consider before settling on placement. Because the air is drawn in and expelled out via different modes, the unit should be away from curtains and blinds so air flow is not impeded. Like any electrical unit, it should not be too low that little children can get access.
What is the maximum size room per ventilator?
In Australia, AS 1668.2 recommends a minimum air flow rate of 0.35 l/s per m² but this is not referenced by the NCC. This therefore covers a very large room of 6 metres by 7 metres. Beyond that, a 2nd ventilator is required most likely in another section of the very large room.
I already have air-conditioning. Will the VA-5002 effect its performance?
The VA-5002 is strictly a fresh-air ventilator and will not impede the use of the air-conditioner if one already exists. The most important purpose of the VA-5002 is to allow the intake of fresh air whilst keeping the windows and doors closed due to external noise or other reasons.
Is there a warranty?
There is a 3 year manufacturers warranty on the motor based on standard usage.

What about BAL properties
For BAL affected properties, the unit can be modified to suit. Simply remove the rubber skirt and plastic cowl from the unit and replace it with the stainless steel cowl specifically designed for the VA-5002. The stainless steel cover comes with its own "skirt" that can be sealed against the wall to prevent water ingress. The cost of this metal cover is minimal for installers.
Can additional filters be supplied?
The 3 filters - the Coarse filter, HEPA filter and Carbon Activated Filter have specifically been designed to filter, and also to provide enough airflow through the unit. Additional filters can be purchased, simply call us or drop us a line.
Can I use a fragrance with the unit?
Yes - you can hang very lightweight fragrance items off the cover - the unit is designed to clip on your fragrance items. You cannot add liquid fragrances inside the unit - do not attempt this.
How do I replace or maintain the filters
The VA-5002 is very clever. You simply need to turn the power off and unplug the unit. The front cover is held magnetically, simply release the front cover (no screws) and you can access the filters. Ensure you understand what order the filters are in, and clean or replace them. Contact us if you need them serviced by us, or replaced.
